The site of sound is a narrative sound piece premiering with Fringe Projects--a series of commissioned temporary public artworks that explore downtown Miami's less conventional spaces. The piece will use the subterranean cavities of storm drains to unfold a score of sorts for the heralded growth of downtown Miami that is at odds with its geography. A city surrounded by ocean and waterways that sits nearly at sea level, its buildings are vulnerable in the short term to storm surges and temporary flooding, and in the not-too-long term to sea level rise and permanent loss of dry land. The city's soundtrack will be heard underwater in The Standard Spa pool, echoing the idea of inundation. Guests will receive a special wristband that will permit them pool entry only during the event.
